The East Farms neighborhood of the East End community in Waterbury, CT is located at the easternmost corner of Waterbury, bordering Prospect, Cheshire and Wolcott.
The East Farms neighborhood of Waterbury, CT is a residential neighborhood that consists of mostly single family homes, with a number of duplex, triplex, and 4-plex multi-family homes scattered throughout the neighborhood, and several condominium complexes scattered both along East Main Street, Scott Road, Meriden Road, and throughout the neighborhood on several of the smaller roads. There are four low-income family housing complexes in the East Farms neighborhood, two located in the Scott Road/Austin Road area, one located in the Dewberry Road area, and one located on the edge of town near the Cheshire border. A senior assisted living complex, The Village at East Farms, is in located on Scott Road.
The East Farms neighborhood of Waterbury, CT is a fairly well established neighborhood, with the majority of residences built there between 1930 and 1960, with the condominium complexes having been built after 1970, the majority of them within the last 20 years. The houses are an eclectic yet even mix of colonial, cape cod, and assorted ranch style homes.
There is one elementary school that serves the East Farms neighborhood – Margaret M. Generali School, located at 3196 East Main Street. Rotella Elementary Magnet School, located at 380 Pierpont Road, is also located in the East Farms neighborhood and serves both residents of Waterbury and the surrounding towns. Generali and Rotella, along with other elementary schools in the eastern part of Waterbury, serve as feeder schools for Wallace Middle School, located at 3465 East Main Street, and Crosby High School, located at 300 Pierpont Road. Both the middle and high school are a part of the Edward D. Bergin Educational Complex – the two schools share an auditorium, gymnasium, and athletic fields.
The East Farms neighborhood of Waterbury, CT is home to the only water resort in the area, CocoKeys, located in the same complex as the Holiday Inn, at 3580 East Main Street. Along with the shopping plazas along Reidville Drive, the East Farms neighborhood is also home to the two wholesale warehouses in the city – BJ’s, located on Reidville Drive, and Costco’s, located on East Main Street.
There is only one church in the East Farms neighborhood of Waterbury, CT – St. Leo’s Roman Catholic Church - located at 14 Bentwood Drive.
