Lake Hitchcock, Wolcott, CT
I remember looking at a very old map of the Greater Waterbury area in one of the classrooms at West Side Middle School back when I first started teaching and noting that smack at the bottom of Wolcott was a lake that was shaped like an extracted molar...
That map had to be dated about 1895 or so...because today, if you look at that same lake, it looks like the tooth has a big gaping hole in it...

Of course, Lake Hitchcock is one of the most sought after spots in the Greater Waterbury area, and for good reason.
There's no fishing allowed, but one can enjoy a nice boat ride or waterski on the lake, and there are plenty of Wolcott residents who live on the lake or nearby to take advantage of the oppotunities that the lake provides.
Someone is enjoying a boatride on Lake Hitchcock on this fine summer day...
The ducks are sure enjoying their day!
You can actually see the sky reflected in the northern half of the lake.
