Louie's Pizza House
You can go to just about any pizza place in town for a slice of pizza, and if you want delivery, then all you have to do is call.
But where do you go when you want something special, that only a few places actually specialize in?
Almost every pizza place in town offers more than just pizza, but only a few offer gyros, and none make them better than Louie's Pizza House.
Seriously, ever since Philly Steak & Gyro at the food court in the Brass Mill Mall shut down several years ago, I was at a loss for where to get a good gyro - lamb, tomato, lettuce, and onions smothered in a special Greek sauce wrapped in pita bread. I had tried a few other places - one now also defunct, and two others still around - but none of them came close to what I experienced when I found out that Louie's Pizza House offered them.
Honestly, Louie's Pizza House is the only place I'd even consider ordering a gyro from.
Louie's Pizza House, located at 126 East Main Street in downtown Waterbury, close to the Palace Theater, is a family-owned business that has been in operation at the same location since 1970. Besides pizza (obviously) and gyros, Louie's Pizza House offers a selection of other menu items - Italian specialties, specialty pizzas, fresh salads, hot or cold grinders, stuffed baked calzones
, and appetizers.
Louie's Pizza House also has a delectable assortment of desserts to choose from.
Louie's Pizza House has delivery and catering services as well. Call for more information.

Hi William: Great post - problem is now I'm hungry! It's nice to share.
:)
William I love Gyros, but they tend to stay with me for a couple of days .... LOL
I will have to stop in at Louies the next time I am going through Waterbury.
I have never been to CT before. That gyro looks great- I guess this is what I get for staying up past midnight- now I am starving...and really craving a gyro.
Matt and George - if you guys are ever in Waterbury, give me a holler, and we can all do lunch there.
Christine and Jennifer - ooohh, sending one through cyberspace to fill your craving!
