Back to School Time In Waterbury CT – What You Need To Know!
Well, as of today, there are officially 12 days left of summer vacation before students in Waterbury CT have to return to school on August 29.
The Waterbury CT School District Calendar is available for all parents and students on the district website; these are the important highlights to remember:
Teacher Collaboration Days = half-day of school for students on the following dates:
September 28, December 21, January 25, March 28, and May 30.
Open Houses: Elementary (5-7 p.m.) and High Schools (7-9 p.m.) are scheduled for:
1st Marking Period: October 6
3rd Marking Period: February 8
Open Houses: Middle Schools (5-7 p.m.) are scheduled for:
1st Marking Period: October 13
3rd Marking Period: February 15
Open House days are half-day for students, so parents, please plan accordingly.
Marking Periods for Grades 1-12 are:
1st Marking Period – Aug. 29 to Nov. 1, 2011
2nd Marking Period – Nov. 2 to Jan. 18, 2012; High School Mid-Term Exams will run January 10-13, 2012 (weather permitting)
3rd Marking Period – Jan. 19 to Mar. 23, 2012
4th Marking Period – Mar. 26 to June 6; High School Final Exams will run May 31-June 6, 2012 (if there are no snow days. Snow days will extend the length of the school year by the number of snow days accumulated).
Marking Periods for Pre-K and Kindergarten are:
1st Marking Period – Aug. 29 to Nov. 28, 2011
2nd Marking Period – Nov. 29 to Mar. 2, 2012
3rd Marking Period – Mar. 5 to Jun. 6, 2012
No school on: Labor Day (September 5), Columbus Day (October 10), Election Day (November 8), Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving Recess (November 24-25), Winter Recess (December 26-January 2), Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 16), Lincoln’s Birthday (February 13), President’s Day (February 20), Spring Recess (April 6-13), Professional Development (May 2) and Memorial Day (May 28)
There is a dress code for Waterbury CT public school students. Uniforms are all standard, but each school may emphasize specific colors, so if you want specific information about your school’s dress code policy, you can call the school your child/children are attending or you can click on the link to the school in the chart below.
